City of Brockton

Animal Control

The purpose of animal control is to pick up stray and injured animals in the city. New laws exist regarding "unvaccinated domestic animals" against rabies. The law states that any domesticated animal that has bitten or scratched another animal or person and has not been vaccinated must be quarantined for a period of six (6) months.

Dogs are licensed by the Election Commission. A license is active from May 1 to April 30 of the following year. To license your dog, deliver or mail a copy of the rabies certificate and a check to the Elections Commission at 45 School St., Brockton, MA 02301. The fee is $6 for a neutered or spayed dog, or $15 if the dog is not neutered or spayed.
